My artifact art also encompasses still lifes and adapted historic scenes that I paint on recovered 19th Century bottles in oil or acrylic paint. The still lifes typically use period objects from my collection and are evocative of the period of the historic objects contained within the painting. In turn, the historic scenes that I adapt or borrow from are either early American primitives of the 18th and 19th Centuries or Dutch images of the period when New York was known as New Amsterdam in the 17th Century. On the back of the bottle paintings, I will name the piece, identify the historic objects if a still life or indicate the source of the historic scene, along with signing and date the piece. My signature is also on the front in the painted image.
